Providing individuals in West Michigan with the Comfort of Home has been the objective of Oak Crest since its inception. Carrying out this objective for over 30 years has made Oak Crest one of the largest providers of Independent and Assisted Living services in West Michigan. However, our background reveals a humble beginning centered on caring for people in a very small homey atmosphere.
Our first home was started in 1978 to provide care for up to six individuals in a specially designed home in Wyoming, Michigan. The live-in owner/operators created a family environment where they and the residents ate together, went to church together, and shared their lives together.
After several years of operation in Wyoming, Oak Crest recognized the growing need for quality Assisted Living for the elderly. In 1984, the company opened a home called Amsterdam Manor in Jenison, Michigan. Amsterdam Manor, as well as the manors that followed are designed for residents who can no longer live independently, but do not require skilled nursing home care. The manors feature private rooms with private baths. That, along with the small number of residents (20 in each building) promotes a home atmosphere. On January 1, 1986, the company incorporated as Oak Crest Health Care Services, Inc.
The expansion has occurred in the four locations of KENTWOOD, JENISON, HOLLAND and SPRING LAKE. As we expanded our geographic area we also expanded our service options to include INDEPENDENT LIVING as well as ASSISTED LIVING. |
